Let me tell you, working through the job market as a trans person in 2025 is absolutely wild. I've been there, and not gonna lie, it's turned into so much better than it was just a few years ago.

At the start when I transitioned at work, I was literally scared out of my mind. Seriously, I was convinced my job prospects was going to tank. But plot twist, things worked out way better than I thought possible.
The first place I worked after living authentically was at a tech startup. The vibe was chef's kiss. The staff used my correct pronouns from the beginning, and I didn't have to face those uncomfortable conversations of repeatedly correcting people.
Industries That Are Really Accepting
Via my experience and networking with other transgender workers, here are the here areas that are genuinely making progress:
**Technology**
Tech companies has been surprisingly accepting. Firms including prominent tech corporations have robust equity frameworks. I scored a job as a tech specialist and the perks were outstanding – complete coverage for trans healthcare procedures.
I remember when, during a standup, someone accidentally misgendered me, and literally multiple coworkers immediately said something before I could even say anything. That's when I knew I was in the right place.

This remains such a weird thing we are forced to deal with, but bathroom situations is important. Find out about restroom access throughout the interview process. Quality organizations will have established protocols and single-stall options.

This is massive. Transition-related care is incredibly costly. While searching for jobs, absolutely look into if their insurance plan covers HRT, surgeries, and counseling support.

From quite a few years of navigating this, here's what actually works:

Be part of trans professional groups on LinkedIn. Seriously, making contacts has landed me multiple roles than regular applications have.
